The W-J HF-1000 is not such a great choice - please refer to the Product
Review in QST, December 1994.
In the second-hand/surplus market, the Collins HF-2050, the Harris RF-550
and the Racal RA6790GM or RA1792 are worth considering. But we must face the
fact that a current-generation DSP design such as the Icom IC-756Pro II will
run rings around many of these 1970's/80's-vintage receivers.
