[Icom] Using AH-4 tuner mobile

Faced with bandwidth and band-switching issues with my Hustler mobile 
antenna system, I have a AH-4 tuner coming and hope to install with my 
706mk2g soon. I recall previous posts that a straight whip is preferred to 
the ah-2b antenna. What's in that AH-2b to justify its price, anyway? Any 
suggestions as to what antenna to use or if the tuner will work with my 
Hustlers will be appreciated. The Hustler mast with a stinger extension 
will yield a 106" mast. Is that workable?
