Kevin, I have used my T7H a couple of times fed by the charging port from an
external power supply. No problems noticed but my HT is also an earlier
model, 4 watts VHF & 3 watts UHF.. I understand that Icom later upgraded the
product to 5/6 watts. There may be a problem with that higher power
version.. Error on the side of caution..
Cheers, Dick, W1ZC

Subject: [Icom] T7H From External Power

Hello All,

I recently picked up a used T7H. Currently all I have for it is the wall
charger. I want to run this radio in my office off of a little 5.5 amp 13.8
VDC supply I have. When I talked to Icom about this the other day, they
warned me not to operate the rig on DC power through the charging jack.
They said the power divider won't handle the full transmit draw. I was
advised to purchase a battery eliminator instead.

Have any of you on this list used the T7H on external power? If so, which
arrangement did you employ? Did you encounter the problem Icom warned me
about?

I really appreciate any information you might be able to give me on this
one. Thanks much and 73.

Kevin, K7RX :)
