Jim, just took the front panel out into bright sunshine and looked even with
a magnifying glass Hi Hi, but no, the only screw (presently removed), is the
one to tighten/loosen the drag on the knob.  This is getting quite
frustrating as it is obvious the knob must come off before I can achieve
anything.  But thanks anyway.

You might double check to see if there is a second screw in there......I had
that happen to me one time on another application.....had a heck of a time
till I found the second screw located under the first one!!!
