Gary,
I have an Icom 751A transceiver and an RX-320 as well. The 751A also
has the RCA jumper for the same purpose. Yes you can do what you want
but then you have two 50 ohm receiver inputs in parallel. Might cause a
bit of loss of sensitivity. I have built the active antenna described
in QST and then built up a small switch that allows a choice of 6
antennas between two receivers.. The 751A and the RX-320. With both
switches on the same antenna, It would be the same as yourY connector.
There should be no problem when you transmit with this scheme. That
jumper has no xmit RF on it.
I also bought a 746PRO which does not have the RCA jumpers
unfortunately. I have blown out the Mixer fets in the RX-320 twice! I
then built a relay box which disconnects the RX-320 antenna and grounds
it when I go into transmit...Oh well, nice to have the ability for the
seperate receive antennas.
Good luck & 73,
Marsh, NC7V
