This was before I had the FT-1000D.

Accidentally we did some extensive practice tests today between these three
rigs (ProII, 1000D and Mark V) in the SSB mode.

Talking about the ratio between the desired signal and noise/interruption
the 1000D wins in almost all circumstances. However the ProII comes very
nearby when you make good use of the TWIN PBT. For this purpose turn both
knobs of the TWIN PBT at the same time (!) until you get the desired S/N
ratio.

It is very hard to make exact comparisons, because it is very personal and
depends on your needs and the purposes you have in mind.
