Another suggestion:
If you go to the trouble of putting it into a little box instead of =
hiding
it all inside the DB-9 hood, I personally would put a DB-9F socket on =
it and
wire up 4 1/8" mini phone jacks in parallel on the box. That way, all =
you
need is a 9 pin serial cable to hook it to your computer and you can =
control
(and allow cross communications) between up to 4 C-IV rigs.

The C-IV interfaces in the radios are all open collector inputs with a =
pull
up resistor so that any listener can also be a talker on the same 2 =
wires.
I've used a mini plug Y-cable to successfully talk to both the IC-746 =
and
R-75 and letting each control the bus when manually spinning the dials.

         You are right about the DB-9 hood. It will fit into a DB-25
hood=20
but it is extremely tight. The others that I built were put on a 2 X 3
inch=20
piece of prep board and placed inside of a small clear plastic utility
box=20
that was purchased at Wally World. Much easier with which to work.
