You know, that's interesting. Most people don't buy the 718 sort of radio,
because the filter is so expensive. But that sort of radio doesn't have the 
filter
blowby that seems endemic to $1000-2000 radios these days (think it's
455 kc IF). Older hams don't notice the very high frequency blowby, so
I suppose the manufacturers can get away with it. Had an FT-840, which
was wonderful, except when the contester about a mile from me was on. He
just wiped the thing out, no matter where he was transmitting!
