[Icom] Icom 706 MKIIG CW contest observations

I use the 706MKIIG in both phone and CW contests. I have 500 Hz filter
only. I agree with your findings, except I think the differences in band
noise are more due to condx than the rig.
Only complaints I have are the finger hole in the tuning knob is too
small for my fingers, and it is a pain to go into the menu to change CW
sending speed. Of course, if you use any kind of an external keyer
(computer, stand-alone, etc.) it don't matter. I also use a LDG AT-11MP
autotuner, really a great help when changing bands.
Only complaint I have with the rig is bad diode(s) in then SWR bridge.
K5RWS tipped me off to the problem. ICOM fixed it immediately under
warranty.
