Group -

As some of you might have noticed, I am an infrequent "contributor" to this
reflector.

What you may not know is that I delete over 90% of the incoming messages from
this list without ever reading them. (Thanks to those of you who enable me to
do so through your use of good, meaningful subject lines. To those who don't
. . . #@#$$ #&%%$!)

However, every now and then, I open a message, in a thread with a subject
like this one, even though I know I should delete it!

After all of the Pro stuff that has been going on here over the past 2 (20?)
years, I have been questioning the value of continuing to subscribe to this
list. See, I don't own a Pro and those postings are of no interest to me.
Especially the ones where hair splitting rises to an art form! So, I delete
the "Pro" stuff.

But, in any case, it is my considered opinion that ALL posters need to
exercise some discretion when making a decision to post, or reply to, a
message here. Over the years, I have noticed that some list members seem to
be unable to let ANY threads pass without sharing their opinion. I suspect
that many others rarely post here because they are content to simply observe
the goings on. Regardless of that, I am certain that a good percentage of
what goes on here is unnecessary and is, to put it bluntly, useless banter.
And, yes, I do know that such banter is a big part of what Ham radio is all
about! It just seems to me that each instance of "useless banter" here is
different from the on-air variety because here it deposits a message into
hundreds of inboxes and that result should be considered beforehand! It is
obvious to me that, in some cases, the result of such consideration is
ignored or missing altogether. Otherwise, why would some threads require an
"official" closing?

That said, feel free to blast away because, for me, this thread is closed . .
.
But, given past history, you had better hurry!

Regards,

Bill
