[Icom] Icom 740 comments/impressions

I am interested in any comments or experiences that
reflector members might have about the Icom 740.  I am
currently running a new/DSP based radio, but am not
sure that it is all it is cracked up to be under
strong signal conditions.  Even though the Icom 740 is
20 years old, its numbers in the QST review look
really good, and the comments/reviews of it on
eham.net are positive.

Has anyone used this radio for contesting?  If so, how
does it stack up against more modern radios?  Any
general problems I should know about?  Also, does it
have a jack in the back for Audio in and out, and PTT
switching to run soundcard based digital modes with.
