Jim,
If you read the page, Nardo is explaining how to replace the battery on the board that he produces. �His board is the 'EPROM/RAMBOARD', the Icom board is called 'EX-314'.
Nardo makes no claims of any kind that you can replace the battery on the original Icom EX-314 board and press a few buttons to make the radio work again. �Dan is correct in explaining that once the battery dies on the EX-314 board, the source code is gone and cannot be reclaimed without factory-type intervention.
But it does sound like you are headed for the hall of fame. �If you can keep the original battery and volatile RAM board for 20 years, you will certainly have the record!!
