I have an Icom 756PRO and unless the twin PBT is turned to -300 or to -350
the (high frequency) noise drives me crazy.   Don't know whether this is a
digital artifact or not, but I can say this;  when I was an amateur 40 years
ago (I recently rejoined the fray) the tube receiver I had sounded much more
civilized.  Also must say that my Yaesu 817 QRP unit sounds better than the
756PRO.   Otherwise the 756 is a very good transceiver.   The sound is bound
to improve as they perfect these digital toys.
