Make sure there are no interference sources nearby.
For example, do you have a fast food restaurant in
your vicinity? Utility equipment? Computer network?
Any of these sources could be radiating RFI that's
getting into your rig and causing intermod or that's
blowing by the front end filtering. As others have
mentioned, those interference sources could also be
traveling down the control cable into your rig.
