Gang,

I just recently acquired a MK II G. While I was putting it thru its paces and getting to know the radio, I (& others) noticed that when I turned the Tone Encoder on for 2M FM use, there is also about a 1700 or 1750 Hz tone coming thru with the audio. It is down far enough that most people don't ever notice it, but I've heard a couple of other MK II Gs with the same artifact when the Tone Encoder is turned on. Anyone know what this is? Is it one of the clock signals bleeding thru? Obviously there is a 1750 Hz tone generator on board, as it is used for the European repeater tone burst. Can this tone be turned off or down, so as not to be audible? Don't get me wrong, it is not obtrusive at all, this is a
curiosity thing for me.

Thanks for reading!
