I saw that soomeone had already set you straight about the KW MC60 as not
being suitable for the 746. The SM 8 however is another story. They are
not scarce, just pricey, but perhaps justifiably so. It is a gooseneck type
electret mike having two cords with Icom cords/connectors so can accomodate
more than one IC rig at a time just by flicking the A/B switch. Each
connection has it own independent gain control located on bottom of the
mike. I see these all the time on various web radio sites. Typically a good
used one will go for about $100-$125 which is much better than a new one.
If only one cord, it goes for less. Optional cords can be purchase from
ICOM, but not cheaply. Easy to install. Its a great mike, and use mine with
a 756PRO. Just watch qth.com and eham.net and other such site including ebay
and you will see them often enough. Good Luck!

| Anyone on the list happen to be using a 746 with an
| MC 60? I have one on the shelf not doing anything.
| A friend suggested an SM 8, but they seem pretty
| scarce, or I'm looking in the wrong places.
