Don:
I moved from a Yeasu switcher to the Astron RS20m, to avoid the spikes in
160m and lower 80m. It has a transformer hum.
I put a piece of fibre board, Ten-test I think the brand name. You can use
it for a tack board. Similar to the ceiling tiles except not painted
white. It absorbes most of the hum so that it is not noticeable. Remember
that most of the hum heard could be from resonating through the rubber
(hardened?) feet. Try placing a piece of sound absorbing material under
it, and donot let the sides, back with wires etc touch any hard stuff of
the desk, etc.
Just a thought.
