Steve, 
I am looking for a good base stn HF rig.  Since you have both Yaesu and Icom, pse advise how they compare -- especially the receivers..  The specifications seem to flip-flop depending on the mode and frequency.  On some combinations the 756 is better and on others the FT1000 is better.  Let me know if there is really any difference in the real world.
