Todd:
Most logging programs control and read frequency and mode and that's about
all you want anyway. The 751A along with many other ICOMs will not provide
reading and controlling of split mode. Otherwise I'm not sure what more you
would want. There are some programs that control or read many of the
features of the newer radios. But for basic logging and intergration with
packet cluster the 751A with a UX-14 or the UX-14PX works fine. By the way,
the UX-14PX provides band stacking capabilities(remembers the last frequency
on each band) and it doesnt require the external CT-17 althought you can use
it with one.

I think I'll spend the $139 before I spend a couple of grand on a new
radio...The IC751A is a great workhorse...I've had mine for several
years now, and have been looking for the UX14 since day one...I
recently found a cloned controller that plugs in underneath the radio
that can control the VFO's, FREQ, and a couple of other things, the
price was right so I picked it up...I think it was called the R-10?
Maybe someone else knows the right nomenclature for that thigamajig...
Since I haven't gotten into this computer/radio/logging thingy until
recently, what exactly are the limited CAT controls you would be able to
use? I think the 751A mated up to Logger, and running Cluster Buster,
will work just fine...
