If the cassette recorder is not satisfactory - due to rewinding and
searching, etc. - you might consider using the digital recorder program in
Windows if your PRO is connected to your soundcard.

Using the Sound Recorder program is almost as good as using a mini-disc
recorder, plus you can save recorded files, etc. Quality is quite good I
have found.

Another use is to generate a test file of your voice, mic, etc. to use for
audio testing of your transmitter, any rack equipment, etc.

I am unaware of any mod to do what you seek for the PRO. Considering its
architecture, I suspect that the mod would have to be in the firmware of
one or more of the many controllers in the system. Perhaps Adam can comment
on this one.

I had this feature with the FT1000D and DVS-2 voice recorder, but for well known reasons Icom inhibited this feature on the PRO. Currently, to record and playback microphone tests of fellow hams, I use an outboard cassette deck hooked up to Accessory Jack 1 on the PRO through isolation transformers.
