I agree. I have been using the Herc without a relay for
several months, but I am still going to put an interface
between the Pro and the Herc. I am too conservative to do
otherwise in view of the comments on the reflector. like
you)!!!
Who cares if it is overkill at less than $50?
Thanks, Ekki

Hi Duane,
last year we used my 756Pro and a Hercules-II in a RTTY
contest and some
days before and after that. Modes were RTTY, CW and SSB.
Before we hooked up I inquired on this reflector, got thumbs
up and just
went ahead without another relay. We just connected the
Hercules-II to the
756Pro.
Worked fine, the Hercules-II is a superb amplifier, the
internal relay still
works fine today.
Nevertheless, if I would buy an amp today, after reading all
these
discussions, I would go with an additional, external relay.
As you write:

Exactly. And it's not very complicated, just another small
box cluttering up
the desk behind the rig. Better safe than sorry.
Just my two Eurocents.
