Interesting in view of Sony's attitude towards copying their
copyrighted music, eh?

The only thing that is world wide is the strength of a
nation to imposs
their law on another, through either arms, the UN or trade.

Copyright, trademark and patents are the right of the
individual
country. There exit certain treaties that may extend the
laws of one
country into the other but such may be circumvented. The
individual US
states may have trademark laws that the federal US trademark
laws cannot
overrule.

In the case of patents, most radio amateurs are licensed as
experimenters,
therefor have the right to build any patented antenna for
experimental
purposes only. Further, if the antenna is patented only in
the US anyone
in Canada can build it for sale.

There is a lot of stuff on the copying of printed material
by libraries,
schools and individuals. Also, on music.

Many people think that the Japanses companies have used the
laws in a way
that are wrong.

I tend to agree that we should no promote the copying of
such but I sure
wish the owners would not make the price of it so dear.
