[Icom] Which One?

I've owned both and currently have the FT-100, primarily as a bedside rig
for receiving. I had the original 706.
I like the knob for selecting memories, rather than the pushbuttons on the
706. Also my 100s fan seldom comes on, and I think the 706 was on
continuously - that bothered me in a quiet location.
The 100 (not the D model, I don't know about it) has the broadest AM
selectivity I have ever seen in a ham rig, but with the AM filter installed
it is absolute perfection.

There is one thing that really bothers me with all modern Yaesus. I use
memories a lot. I tune to a memory to change bands and tune off of the
memory to tune the band. Once you touch the main tuning knob the rig goes
into a "MT = memory tune" mode, and the memory knob is then used to jump up
and down the band in 10KHz steps (adjustable). To return to using the
memory selector for that purpose you have to hit the mem/vfo button. A
nuisance. The 1000MP and 847 are the same.

All in all I liked both rigs. No failures with either.
