Bert,
Apart from your question regarding power connection you should be prepare=
d to deal with interference problems with to your rig. I've owned 2 Merc=
Sables and had a myriad of issues to deal with. The most notable will be=
(if Ford has not corrected it) a fuel pump that generates a tremendous a=
mount of noise (S9 on my MKII). There is a service bulletin from Ford to=
fix this problem. However, the amount of interference from the fuel pum=
p may mask that from other sources as well.

Subject: [Icom] Need help with mobile intallation of my ICOM 706 MKIIG
Hi,
I would like to go mobile with my ICOM 706 MKIIG.Ideally I realize that i=
deally I should hard wire the rig directly to the battery.I have "explore=
d" the firewall of my 2000 Taurus sedan and have conluded that getting th=
e harness to the battery appears to be no easy task.
I would appreciate any and all suggestions and "encouragement" anyone mig=
ht want to offer.
One thought that comes to mind would be the installation of an auxilliary=
battery in the trunk.I would also welcome any thoughts regarding this. In=
particular ideas for charging this battery etc.
Thank You and 73,
Bert W1DFU
