George,
the old (Pro) manual is indeed not totally clear on that, but here is what
I have and verified on my Pro (not Pro2). The Pro2 manual is more elaborate
on these commands.

The usual frame structure ov CI-V commands is assumed as known.

Command $1A $02
Followed by one byte, keyer memory number $01 to $04 (see pg. 82 of Pro2
,manual)

Followed by 55 bytes ASCII text, representing the contents of the keyer.
The valid ASCII codes are documented on pg. 82 of the Pro2 manual. Empty
characters are sent as $20 (ASCII space).

Although the doc says 54 bytes of data the Pro sends 55 bytes of data.
Either there is one more byte at the beginning, either undocumented or the
mem.nr. is transmitted as two bytes, or the data length is really 55 bytes.

HTH,
73
