A duplexer is used when you have an multiband HF-VHF
mobile antenna like the Diamond HV7. The use of a
duplexer does not arise when you are using two
separate antennas on the two antenna sockets of your
radio.

I do remember coming across the receiver overload
problem either on this reflector or the 706..cant
remember where. The problem comes up if you are using
another UHF/VHF mobile radio alongside the 706.
Since there is only one radio involved in your case,
this concern may not arise. As someone pointed out,
the later generation 706 came with better front end
protection. I have used a tripod mounted RH770
(UHF/VHF whip) together with my HV7 (multibander) in a
hotel room and had no problem.

Hope this helps
