My experience with currently available receivers (including Icoms) is that the
JRC NRD-545 is by far a better receiver than any other I've tried so far
including IC-R8500, R9000, AOR 3000's and 5000's, etc. It is easy to operate,
includes DSP, and hears very well, better than some high end HF transceivers
I've tried and/or owned. An optional VHF/UHF receiver board is available to
extend it's range up to around 2000Mhz.
73,
Gary.
