Hi All,
well I too had heard of some problems with the first run of 910's, a friend of mine had got one and ended up sending it back and
getting a 2nd unit which worked fine, he was seeing low power out on 70cm and the frequency of the rig was several khz out...
I took the plunge later and bought an 910 in the 1000 serial number range... I found the power out to be in spec and the frequency
on the money, but...
the 910 does have a tendency to drift, with the stock xtal reference, the inside of the compartment can get quite warm and the
frequency will shift... then the fan will kick into high speed and shoots cool air in there and the reference will shift back in
frequency, a little piece of styrofoam over the oscillator will mostly cure the problem or in my case I added the oven controlled
oscillator and now it is rock solid....
btw I was only seeing this shift on 23cm and it was a very small amount ...
anyway other than this one nit, I have found the rig to be a real pleasure to operate and a solid performer
