Ron
I just got my 751A back from Scott Malcom
http://www.angelfire.com/biz2/mts/
He completely went through it, replacing the PLL caps and an electrolytic or
two as well as doing a 'tune up'. Whole job cost only slightly more than
the round trip shipping charge.

Subject: Re: [Icom] IC-761
Hi, glad this subject came up.
I also need my 761 repaired. I could send it to Icom, but are there good
(and
cheaper, of course) alternatives? I don't mind paying for quality work.
I'd like to get my transmitter section working and have the caps replaced,
alignment checked, etc.
I could probably do this myself, but every tool etc, is packed up waiting
for
the new house to be built. Avvid was recommended, any others?
thanks in advance!
