Retrofit PBT on an IC-765, replace the FL-30/FL-96 with FL-80/FL-44A, and
you will have a better radio still. The reciprocal mixing noise (a function
of synthesiser phase noise) is significantly lower on the DDS-equipped
IC-765 than on the IC-761 (or the IC-751A, which was essentially the same
radio in a smaller package, without the internal ATU).

I sold my pro for a 761, which is a much better radio if you don't need the
bells, whistles, display, or 6 meters.
