Hello fellow hams,
Greetings from Sunny Singapore!
This request might seem strange when everyone looks
for mods to open up a transceiver, here I am asking
how to block my XCVR! ;-) Singapore has very stringent
regulations on type approval of amateur radio
transceivers which requires a XCVR to Tx and Rx within
the amateur bands only. I am trying to get my MKII
type approved, which would probably be the first of
its type here.
Has any one blocked his / her XCVR such that it Rx and
Tx falls within the amateur bands only? I would
particularly like to knock out segments between 30.000
MHz - 49.999 MHz, 54.000 MHz - 143.999 MHz and 148.000
MHz - 199.999 MHz. Should add that mine is an American
Version
The authorised agent (with whom the radio is lying
now, since I am not permitted to do the mod) and I are
breaking our heads on this. The last option would be
to disable one of the local oscillators. We would
prefer the diode approach as it is reversible in case
I decide to go maritime mobile after my assignment in
S'pore. Any help from folks who have done this would
be greatly appreciated.
In anticipation

(PS : Checked mods.dk and have the service manual
too..but little or no luck)
