ok Joe well I know the old original hygain 2 el had problems if you by error
put 20 meter power into it......it blew the insulators....burnt a hole
inside the insulator so cabon path to the element ...high
resistance.......I know they changed the design sort of to eliminate this
but I wonder if by chance do you recall by error putting 20 meter power to
it ?? if so you may have to check those insulators around the liniear
loading taps but I am not sure about this just a thought I had a rotable
dipole ...drive element of that beam was going to make the 3 element out of
a 2 element was going to pick up but never got the 2el party changed mind
on selling it.
by the way on that burn thru failure you could not see it unless you kept
using it during a contest not watching the swr till a neighbor called to
tell you your antenna was on fire Hi HI.
