From a new (used) Quadra owner:

As to the Quadra being derated for constant-duty cycles - I spent some time
evaluating the PW-1 and the Quadra a few months ago and it looked to me
that they were rated to different standards. The PW-1 was rated for 1000W
on "RTTY" mode, which probably meant the usual 50/50 TX/RX cycle, whereas
the Quadra was rated for 500 watts for 100% key-down for 1 hour. If I am
right about these two standards, they are probably equivalent.

It also appears they are both de-rated to 500 W on 6 meters, but that may
because the JA limit is 500W on 6 meters. I tried mine into a dummy load on
6 and it would give in excess of 1KW, but I don't know how "pure" that 1K+ was.

As I recall, they both used the same transistors, so I would expect
comparable performance.. I think the Quadra's power supply had a slightly
higher rating than the PW-1. . The Quadra is actually a bit heavier.
