An update:

Forecast for next 24 hours:
Space weather for the next 24 hours is expected to be minor.
Geomagnetic storms reaching the minor level are expected. Weak
power grid fluctuations
can occur. Minor impact on satellite operations possible.
Migratory animals are affected at this and higher levels; aurora is
commonly visible at high latitudes (northern Michigan and Maine).
For specific locations around the globe, use geomagnetic latitude
to determine likely sightings visit http://www.sec.noaa.gov/Aurora/

Solar radiation storms reaching the minor level are expected.
Minor impacts on HF radio in the polar regions can occur.

Radio blackouts reaching the minor level are expected. Weak or
minor degradation of HF radio communication on the sunlit side of
the Earth can happen, with occasional loss of radio contact.
Low-frequency navigation signals are degraded for brief intervals.

Others are speculating that these levels will intensify late today,
above the minor level. I will be watching closely to see if Aurora
conditions exist further south into the middle latitudes.
