Interesting thread.... I've decided not to use the 2m & 440mhz side of the 
706 MKII G.  I installed a separate 2m/440mhz rig.  To me, it is just 
easier.

Ed, I agree with Fred. I had a 2100H in the truck prior to the 706, and the
2100H receive was clearer and more selective. Also the transmit on the 
2100H
was stronger. But as Fred said, there are sacrifices to be made for getting
all the features in one small package. I still love my 706 and have no
intention of going back to two radios in the truck. Bill KG4HPM
