Hi Ed,

I have had my Icom 706 MK II G for about 18 months now. Before the Icom =
706, I had an Icom 228H for 2 meters, an Alinco for 440 and a Kenwood =
TS-430S for HF in the car. I for one do not think the receiver in the =
706 is as good as the other radios was on UHF/VHF, BUT, I wouldn't =
expect it to be. I think it is more than adequate for most =
circumstances, but it does lack in Selectivity. If you use the 706 in a =
high RF area, like near paging transmitters or commercial sites, I think =
the lack of selectivity could be a problem. That is the price we pay to =
have everything in one small box. The HF performance is very good and =
that is where I spend most of my time. I wouldn't want to go back to =
having three rigs in the car again. Just my opinion.

Just wondering what you guys think about the vhf\uhf receive on the =
706 MK II G compared to other vhf\uhf radios you have owned. Not lab or =
bench specifics but real life experience.=20
