[Icom] Microphone suggestions for 756ProII

I think I've decided on getting a 756Pro II.

Now the question is mics for it. I'm primarily a BA operator (Collins,
Johnson etc) and have a whole bunch of D-104's for them. I only have two
solid state rigs now, my TS-940SAT with which I use a Kenwood MC-60 and
my 706MkII that I use mobile with the original mic.

I expect I will want a desk mic for the 756Pro II and don't have much
experience with after market mics other than the D-104's that I've been
using over 40 years.

I did try a Heil mic many years ago but had to return it as it never
worked right on the Kenwood. That's when I got the MC-60 which worked a
whole lot better.

I'm looking for suggestions on what most people feel is a good mic for
the 756Pro II. Any comments on the Icom SM-6 vs SM-20? How about the
newer Heil models, are they any better than the old ones? Don't want to
get stuck with another one and admit I'm gun-shy of Heil.

I'm not into major contesting, just want a mic that sounds decent and
doesn't give me problems.

Any comments? I expect this opens up a can of worms so don't everyone
get defensive over their choice of mic, I'd just like some opinions on
the pros and cons of one mic over the other.

Thanks & 73, Ray W2EC
