[Icom] Have High SWR on Ham Sticks

Hi John,

I use Hamsticks 80-10 meters mounted to the back of my Celica sedan and they
all work great -- the most important component for these antennas to work
with any efficiency is the base-matching coil of cap. Without using either
the coil or cap, especially on 80-20 meters your base R will be very very
low -- in fact, on 75 meters mine starts out at 4 ohms with with the coil
out of the circuit!! Get hold of an antenna analyzer to prove to yourself
what's going on with very short antennas for these bands in mobile
service!!!

By-the-eay, I can actually "tune" the hamstick on 40 to quite low SWR, but
the base R is still too low without the base coil so most of my xmtr power
is going up in heat, rather than being radiated by the antenna.

The hamstick instructions cover all this...........

Good luck, hf mobile (especially on CW) great fun!!
