[Icom] Questions on 706MkII vs 746Pro vs 756ProII

I have a 756PROII and the spectrum scope does function while you are
transmitting and/or receiving. And very well.

On Icom's dual watch: Both frequencies you are listening to must be on the
same band/mode. There is a balance control that selects which frequency (or
both) you are listening to. There also is a 'change' button that toggles
the transmit frequency. With the dual watch the audio from both receivers
come out of both headphones - there is no way to seperate them. I normally
run my balance control at the 3 o'clock position. In this position the TX
(primary) frequency is slightly louder that the secondary frequency, and
when the 'change' button is operated the louder signal follows over to the
TX frequency.

In my opinion this is the one short coming of Icom's dual watch. I prefer
to have one receiver in one ear and the other receiver in the other ear to
tell which I am listening to. I have used FT-1000MP's on DXpeditions and
that feature is great but I just never could get used to the rest of the
shortages on the MP. So I kept my IC-765 and use that for my second
receiver. I have a switching system (SO2R) for use with my 765 and 761 so
it was no big deal to just plug the PROII in. And after 2 months of use the
PROII has finally taken over as my no. 1 radio. Hard to beat the triple
band stacking registers and the spectrum scope.

An observation: during split operation on either the 761 or 765 I would
occassionally wind up transmitting on the wrong VFO. I have never
transmitted on the wrong VFO on the PROII. And I credit Icoms dual watch
implementation for this.
