There was a project article in QST a while back describing an
interface between a UHF link radio and a 706, so the 706 can be
operated remotely using an HT.
Ah, found it: "An Inexpensive, Remote-Base Station Controller Using
the Basic Stamp", W2FS, QST May 1998, pages 33-37.

I was think today as I looked out my office window and saw my truck in
the parking lot (it has a 706 and Hustler antennas) in it, I sure wish I
could have my rig in here in the office. What would it take to make
that extension so I can say monitor a freq or maybe operate PSK during
my lunch hour. I know some time back there was discussions about that
IBM cordless phone that you could hook up. But could you grab the audio
on the other end so it is basically a nifty duplex speaker extension. I
would think also that I could get possibly a dual band mobile capable of
cross band repeat and a dual band handi. I have also seen those
extension for additional TVs that send the audio without wires. But I
would think those are one way. Unless I could get two sets on different
freqs. Just brainstorming....
Has anyone ever done something like this? Any ideas. Suggestions.
Thanks
