I want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions. Let me respond to a
few of these. My first thought was there is an antenna problem, so I changed
antennas but saw no change. I also tried it with the AGC on, off, and fast
with little change. Also, yes the transmit was tested with the vehicle in
motion. The transmit was steady, but the receive varied as described
earlier. This weekend I'll pull the covers off the radio and check it out
with my limited knowledge. Then it's off to Icom with it, especially since
it's still under warranty. I'd rather fix it myself, because like most of us
I love a good electronic puzzle and then the pride in being able to make the
repair myself. Never the less, I'll let the list know what I (or Icom) find.
Thanks again and I appreciate everyone's help. The hams on this list are the
