Thank you thank you...   Many have replied with the above and other
addresses.  I started troubleshooting at noon today (lunch break) and
dropped the bad parts (PLL Q-45, IC-5, L-1) in my pocket just 29
minutes later.

I will order the parts from ICOM.  I still want to trade, or maybe sell
if the deal is right, my MK-II service manual for a 706 (no suffix) 
service manual.
