Well, with all your help I may have cheated the grim reaper yet one more 
time....with everyone's suggestions (and I forgot about this website!) I 
read on an ICOM-related website about a cold-solder problem on the RAM board 
and low and behold I found one (maybe two) using a magnifying glass, warmed 
up them with my trusty, rusty Weller and rig back on line again. So far, no 
hicups!!
