Gary,

In the Icom product line, the SM-8 and SM-20 are superior to the SM-6. Both
of these are cardioid; the SM-6 is omni-directional.

Alternatives from the Heil stable are the GoldLine, with HC-4 or HC-5
element, and the HM-i, an electret mic designed for use with Icom radios.
The Heil ProSet "ic" is also a good companion to an Icom radio. The HS-706
headset is specifically intended for use with the IC-706.

Subject: [Icom] Microphone for Icom 706MKIIG

I currently have an Icom SM6 microphone for my
706MKIIG, but would like to upgrade to a better
microphone. Any recommendations? Should I stay with
ICOM or try another manufacturer?

Tnx es 73
