Hector -

I've owned an original 756 and played with a 756PRO at the radio
store.

The differences are at the level of a bicycle and a Ford GT-40.
They are not the same radio. They just look the same. Its at the
level of comparing a TRF receiver to a superhetrodyne.

There really isn't any point in itemizing the differences, but I
can tell you this....

The display difference is just the very tip of the iceberg. To
even attempt the integration of a PRO display into an original
756 would be an utter waste of time.

If you like the original 756 at all, the PRO will be a real
treat. If you want the display of the PRO, then get the PRO. In
addition, you'll get a lot of additional enhancements that are
several orders of magnitude in advance of the original 756.

The differences between an original 756 to a PRO are much, much
more than the display. They really are entirely different
radios, with the PRO being light years in advance the original
756. If you own an original 756, the PRO puts the premise in an
utterly new perspective. Between the two radios, the increment
in performance is well worth the cost difference.
