duck bill? Think we are speaking of the same thing. Pulled out my Tessco
Catalog to see. They did not mention duck bill pliers, however, slip joints
were listed, Xcelite H26 is the model. BUT, on the same page was "Soft Jaw
Connector Pliers"; "Description: N Connector plier designed with soft jaws
for tightening N and UHF connectors. Works on any other knurled type
surface." Crescent Tools 52910. At 30 bucks, I'll take the chance on ruining
a few knurled ring nuts. This is a 10 inch long tool that could easily strip
a mic connector. Maybe Crescent has a smaller/cheaper one. Anyone interested
can see Tessco on line at www.tessco.com
While on the subject, should one encounter a hex nut on a wired connector,
the automotive industry has developed special sockets for sensors (oxygen
sensors come to mind) that have one side missing so socket can fit on the
nut without having to disconnect wires. Unfortunately, most radios are too
tight to get anything on the hex nut. I guess whatever one does, just be
careful.
I have no connection with nor do I profit from Tessco, Xcelite or Cerscent
Tolls.
