I have the original IC-706 and use the ClearSpeech speaker in the care and
in the house. It digs out those voices which normally can't be understood.
Works great on white noise, ignition noise, heterodynes.....
I tap the power off the same plug I used to make the TUNE trigger so that
the speaker comes on with the radio.
Even though the manufacture states the connector on the back is for a
speaker, I have used cheap headphones with good results. If you use high
efficiency headphones, make sure to lower the volume first.
Also, some users have had low output from the ClearSpeech when they plug it
into the front PHONE jack on the 706. This is resolved by switching the
switch on the back of the faceplate to SPKR.
