Hi Bill,
I used the Clear Speech Speaker for about a year in my Mercury Mountaineer which as you know is a Ford Explorer.
I would agree the statement about it being the best Accessory.
I did endless tests in about every position you can think of and the Clear Speech Speaker is clearly more effective than the
internal DSP. I used the menu to alternate with one button back and forth between the 706 DSP and the CSS.
I used all settings on the 706 and found from 4 to 6 to be about right for me. But having said that the best improvement was always
to turn the CSS on.
I used a full Hustler system and recently went to the whip and an AH-4 automatic Tuner.
I recently purchased a 2000 Explorer and hope the noise isnt as bad as my Mountaineer but doubt that it is any better. Both are 8
Cylinder models or the same engine.
In the mornings I am on HF mostly for the one hour commute and during the day I use two meters and on the way home. I was using the
Kenwood TM-7VA but have retired that rig as the 706 has been quite adequate on 2 meters. I leave one VFO on two and the other on HF.
Yes I know about the memories but this works for me hi.
