Hal,
I suspect that Michael DiMaria may be the seller I keep seeing on Ebay
with the different color 781/R9000 CRT's. Is that where you bought
yours, on Ebay? I've wondered about the white. I have a spare amber
though. Regarding the LCD, the new R9000L (LCD) is much like looking at
a IC-746; the same display colors, etc.
