[Icom] IC53 vs.IC53A filter

I have an IC-53 and I believe it was stated on here a while back that except
for the higher stance or profile of the 53. It is the exact same filter as
the 53A. Is that correct?

The IC-53 will not fit in my 765. I was thinking about "chopping" it like a
'48 Plymouth to make it fit, but before I get the hacksaw and cutting torch
out I was wondering if anyone has ever done this.
